In honor of the many mango trees dominating the area, the Mango House blends perfectly with the natural environment surrounding it.
Rather than disturb the seventy to eighty-year-old trees, the house was styled around them and on three sides they were the deciding factor in the house’s demarcation. So important were the trees that the original ground-floor design was shifted to a second level rather than cut them. The cavernous open spaces provide a natural air conditioning, while the freeform staircase arching across the space adds a surreal element to walking between floors.
The earthy tones of the exterior bricks, concrete, and wood trim fade into the lush greenery while expansive open spaces throughout the structure coupled with the giant windows allow the ones inside to partake of the verdant outdoor life.
