Tudor watches has just added a new member to their Heritage Black Bay collection of diver’s watches. After last year’s bronze-cased watch, it is fitting that for 2017 they showcase an all-steel version. There is more than just the metal to make the 79730 Heritage Black Bay Steel Watch ($3,475) noteworthy – it is the first of the series to include a date function which sets at the 3 o’clock position.
Powered by their in-house automatic caliber MT5612 movement which uses a silicon balance wheel and provides a 70-hour power reserve, the new Heritage has a 41mm satin-brushed case and screw-down crown which makes this diver safe down to 660 feet. The dot & dagger lume points contrast well with the matte black, instrument-like domed dial, while the raised sapphire crystal enhances the retro look of the watch.
You have the choice of an aged leather strap or the vintage 1950’s and 60’s “riveted” industrial looking steel wrist bracelet, both also including a khaki green, NATO-style fabric strap. Heritage Black Bay Steel’s extreme simplicity and readability make this a go-to choice when going under.
