Before World Cup soccer player Jay DeMerit became an athlete he was a studying industrial design. Now he is returning to his first love with the Rockit Logs Speakers ($200).
Rockit Logs are hand-crafted portable Bluetooth Speakers that are built into reclaimed, acoustic-quality woods that were castoffs from the logging industry. The speaker frames are Western Cedar, Hemlock, and Fir recovered from the Sea to Sky Corridor in British Columbia, Canada. Because of their nature, each Rockit Log speaker is unique. They’re not just good looking, decorative pieces, but also pack a punch delivering room-filling sound with a 60 watt output, while the lithium battery is able to maintain full volume for over 10 hours and can be recharged at any convenient USB port.
As well as select speakers being signed by Mr. DeMerit himself, he has invited other athletes, like Sean Pettit and Steve Nash, to help design and sign personalized individual Rockit Logs for fans. Details in the video [via]
