Florida tuning house East Coast Defender is hard at work taking old Defenders and reworking them into new custom rides for the ages. Their latest build, Project XIII, started life as a 1993 North American Defender 110.
First off, they ditched the original LS7 Chevy V8 and replaced it with a 430 hp, 6.2L, V8 Corvette Stingray engine. To run that kind of power they inserted a GM 6L60 automatic gearbox. Now that the Defender Project XIII can hit 60 mph in a cool 7 seconds, they turned to making it manifestly ride worthy.
External running boards makes entry super easy and there are even panoramic windows in the rear passenger compartment for admiring the scenery. Nine adventurers can fit onto the new leather-trimmed seats while listening to a 13 speaker JBL audio system. The hardened-steel axle shafts, full external roll-cage, BFGoodrich Radial All-Terrain KO2 tires, and the heavy duty winch just make it all the more tempting to head out where no Defender has gone before!
