According to Heritage Handcrafted’s founder James Broyhill, they strive to create something unique out of something with true character. Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, Heritage Handcrafted has used traditional woodworking techniques with non-traditional materials to make their furniture. Specifically, they use the staves from old whiskey, bourbon, and wine oak barrels.
Using barrels reclaimed from the Jack Daniel’s Distillery in Tennessee, they have fashioned authentic Bar Stools ($245) that pay tribute to the original purpose of the wood. A special finishing process is used to preserve the barrel look with the stools. They come in two styles; one is a fixed square seat stool that is 28″ high and 19″ in diameter, while the other is a round swivel seat version, 24″ tall and 17″ in diameter.
Personalization is available and is hand carved into the stool. As well as being proudly made in the USA, 10% of the proceeds from each sale is donated to the Jack Daniel’s supported foundation “Operation Ride Home,” to benefit active US military members. [via]
