Airstream has released a new travel camper that has all the earmarks of a perfect mobile home. The Basecamp Trailer ($35K) is lightweight – only 35,000 pounds – and can be pulled by smaller vehicles, like SUV’s, small pickups, or hybrids.
The Basecamp fits well both in a campsite or as far off-road as you can drive. Featuring a UV protected aluminum exterior sitting atop a semi-monocoque superstructure, the insulated camper comes standard with tempered tinted windows (rear venting) placed inside hand crafted, welded extruded aluminum frames. You also get a slide in visor patio awning, an exterior shower with hot & cold water, while the interior boasts a dinnette & lounge, and a complete galley with handcrafted Italian Lite-Ply laminated cabinetry. A Deep Cycle (lead acid) battery powers the appliances.
This compact camper also includes a fully functional on-board restroom complete with shower head. The convertible living space easily sleeps two adults. With both a side door and the rear hatch door, getting in and out is a snap. Both entrances have sliding visor extensions and optional tent packages can expand the total living space to 120 square feet of sheltered living space.
With its larger tires, side skirts, wheel flares, and aggressive departure angle, the Basecamp is designed to go just about anywhere you want to take it. Details in the video.
