Aiming to revive the role of the modern wristwatch, a small startup based out of Winnipeg, Canada, just launched the Ceres C01 Single-Handed Watch ($84) – a unique timepiece that forces the wearer to read the time in a new way.
Available with either an eggshell face & blue hand or onyx face & red hand, the versatile C01 can be worn casually or paired with a suit. It’s powered by a solid Japanese Miyota 2035movement, comes in a mirror-finish stainless steel case with a domed mineral-glass crystal, and it’s finished with a thick, top-grain leather strap (in Tan or Onyx hues). The utterly minimalist watch displays only the hour markings, as well as 5 minute indicators, so you will have to actually use your brain a little to read it – a detail we absolutely love. As its makers say “The C01 is the antidote to the digital clock; it is a natural way to tell time in an increasingly manic, digital world.”
