Arc’teryx and BEAMS join forces to bring the Theta AR Jacket back on the shelves. Originally released in 1998, the revival of the technical layer did not just undergo aesthetic changes. But it also received a material upgrade to keep up with the times.
It uses the latest GORE-TEX PRO ePE for an upgraded breathable waterproof construction that balances lightness and durability. The rest is a color update inspired by “Japanese autumn landscapes and the sensibility to find beauty in the changing seasons and impermanence.” These include dark brown on the shoulders and hood, and bright yellow and orange.
The revived Theta AR Jacket also pays homage to its heritage design. BEAMS brought back the center storm flap, chunky classic pull tabs, and covered pocket zips. It also retains the original design’s longer cut and high pockets. The whole style and color scheme scream retro, complemented by contrasting zippers and gold Arc’teryx and BEAMS embroidery.
The revived jacket is part of a new six-piece anniversary collection celebrating 25 years of collaboration between BEAMS and Arc’teryx. The collection, called KOYO, which translates to Autumn Leaves, also marks Arc’teryx’s 50th anniversary.
Aside from the Theta AR Jacket, the lineup also includes other outdoor gear, such as the GAMMA JACKET and GAMMA 5 PANEL CAP. There’s also the newly developed JOGEN cargo pants based on BEAMS’ long-selling models, and the KRAGG COTTON LS SHIRT printed with anniversary products from previous generations. The collection launches worldwide on Sept. 25 at ARC’TERYX brand stores in the U.S., U.K., Canada, and China, alongside BEAMS Harajuku in Japan.
