Lightweight, powerful and with lots of downforce, the Aston Martin GT8 ($240K) is the most agile and potent V8 Vantage ever – not for the faint hearted (nor the poor).
Inspired by the 2016 V8 Vantage GTE race car, this 3310 lbs (1,510 kg) road-legal sprinter features an aerodynamic carbon fibre bodywork, plus bucket seats and door panels made of the same material, a slim line lithium-ion battery, and optional carbon-fibre roof, polycarbonate rear screen, rear wing and titanium exhaust. At the heart of the GT8 there’s a 440bhp 4.7-litre V8 engine(0-60mph in 4.4 seconds) coupled to a six-speed manual or seven-speed semi-automatic transmission. And, since the car is meant to be used for every-day drives, its interior comes equipped with AC, a 160-watt stereo and Aston Martin’s latest infotainment system.
Wearing 19″ center-locking magnesium wheels (unique to the GT8) and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 rubber, the sleek road racer arrives in different two-tone color schemes (China Grey & Blue, Stratus White & Green or Stirling Green & Lime), and it’s limited to just 150 examples.
