The Montblanc Timewalker Urban Speed e-Strap ($425,00) shows how a classic luxury watch maker responds to one of the latest trends in digital wearables: the smartwatches.
The e-Strap is basically a little Bluetooth screen made from DLC (diamond like carbon) coated steel or gray steel, that comes attached to a high-end carbon fiber textured leather strap. The interesting part is that the electronic module can be slipped onto any 20 or 22mm watch strap (Montblanc or not), to add a full range of functionality to any kind of mechanical watch. Android and iOS compatible, the touchscreen device can receive notifications and messages, track activity, control your music, find your attached devices, and more. The Montblanc e-Strap will be officially revealed at the SIHH show in Geneva, in late January 2015, as part of the Timewalker Urban Speed collection.
