31 Best Tactical Wallets: Tough, Durable and Military Grade Wallets

A man’s wallet is an important part of his daily life. You’ll probably agree, that your wallet is the one thing of anything else in your cupboards, drawers and wardrobes that you’ll have with you wherever you are, whatever you’re doing. Whether you’ve switched completely to digital money and only use plastic cards or still like a good wad of hard currency on you, you need somewhere to keep it all. That’s why, despite its size, your wallet is something you should (if you don’t already) put a lot of thought into.

The biggest problem with wallets though is, although they may be stylish, the trifolds and bifolds of this world are unquestionably bulky and cumbersome to say the least. Not only does this make them a nightmare to fiddle with when it comes to settling your tab at the local drinking hole or paying for that romantic dinner with your hot date, but they make your thigh feel as if you’ve got a growth. They don’t look that great either.

Enter the savior of the day, the humble and overperforming tactical wallet. A tactical wallet isn’t solely designed for the military and other personnel like that. They’re designed to provide a portable, compact, streamlined and lightweight alternative to those bulky behemoths mentioned above. There’s space in the best for all the cards you’ll need as well as some money, and some even feature multitools and at least a handy bottle opener. In the following guide, that’s exactly what we’re going to look at. We’ve shortlisted 31 of the best tactical wallets and as we’ve selected models from various price points with various components and designs, we’re sure you’ll find one that’s right for you.

Next, we have another wallet that presents itself just like a normal one, but with a real tactical slant from 5.11. Their Steel Jacket Multitool wallet is a powerful combination of functionality and utility. At just 2.25 x 3.6-inches, it’s hardly very big at all. That doesn’t stop it being filled to bursting with awesome tools. Some of the tools that we’re especially excited by at Men’s Gear, are the bottle opener (that’s really a given, isn’t it?), the hex bolt wrenches, and 3 different screwdriver sizes.

In addition to the tools, there’s also space for storing 2 sizes of memory card and SIM card. It has also been designed and built with the TSA and their carry-on regulations in mind and is safe to take with you when you’re traveling by plane. To stop would-be thieves, your cards can be protected by the RFID-blocking material in the wallet’s body.

Gerber is a company most famous for making high-quality and incredibly versatile knives and other cutting tools. So, it’s probably not very surprising that the main feature of this sexy and clever little GDC Money Clip is the fixed-blade knife. It can hold a total of 5 cards, which perhaps doesn’t sound like very many but considering how many things can be handled digitally by smartphone apps, it’s more than enough for the average modern man.

It’s only 2.9-ounces, so it’ll never leave you feeling fatigued and with the finger slot and serrated thumb rest, you can grip the knife comfortably. This gives you the confidence to wield your 2.7-inch long knife for a variety of different purposes, whether it’s cutting some cloth for a makeshift tent or must free yourself from rope. It’s made from durable materials and is anti-rusting properties, so you’ll get an excellent return ion your investment.

Our second tactical wallet from Gerber and this is very pleasing on the eyes. There’s space for up to 7 credit, debit or even business cards. Made from strong stainless-steel it still manages to be extremely lightweight and has an incredibly low-profile. Although it does not have a blade of any description, it does have a bottle opener and there’s a protective banner that means your cards will stay safely and snug.

So basically, you’ve got all you need to buy in the beers and can even play barkeep. We’d pair this with other EDC items, rather than using this as a sole item. Reliable, durable and practical are the three words we’d use to describe this.

Made from robust leather, The Pocket Runt 2.0 from Hitch & Timber is an amazing addition to your daily life and what you carry on your person. This can be used to keep all your pocket-sized tools easy to access and well-protected. It’s constructed with a special elastic band that fits a wide range of pen of different sizes including Kaweco Liliputs and Fisher Space. We’re impressed with it being handcrafted, cut, burnished and stitched. You also get the benefit of mil-spec elastic and the leather itself is 4-ounce Wickett & Craig or Horween leather, 2 of the country’s last special-made tanneries.

It’s important to note that this does not include many of the tools pictured. You need to buy your own flashlight, pen and knife. But, if you’re after a safe and convenient place to store your little tools, this is a good option.

My oh my, be still my beating heart. That’s all that went through our minds when we first clapped eyes on the Sparkle Tmax multitool wallet. Set onto a 3D non-magnetic stamped-steel frame with top-grain leather cover, this is a wallet that’s designed for so much more than just holding cards. It only holds 3 to 5 cards, but we think this is more than enough. Especially when you consider what else it does. As well as the almost-now-standard RFID-blocking tech, this baby is jam-packed with useful features and functions. There’s a mini saw, knife, screwdriver, 5 different sizes of hexagon spanner, map locator, rope hook and cutter and, of course, a bottle opener. The bottle opener can also be used to break nuts, or glass. Or both. Really depends how your day’s going.

Many jobs require you to carry some form of ID every day. However, this is not always convenient with normal badge holders and wallets. That’s why GOVO took on the challenge of creating a tactical wallet that could be used to carry ID, some other important daily items., not fail you or let you down and provide you with space to connect other items and tools, as necessary.

The body and screen are made from polycarbonate that’s 2mm thick, while the connector/clip is made from high-quality manganese steel. That means if you need to use a lanyard, keychain or want to attach anything else to the wallet, you can without worrying about whether the chain will break or not. As well as an ID badge, there’s also plenty of room inside the wallet for anything between 1 and 4 cards. The wallet also has anti-scratch properties that mean it will look as good as new, even after weeks of hard use.

All patriotic Americans will have tears of red, white and blue when they see this intricately designed piece of carbon-fiber Holstex and stainless steel. In this design because the stainless-steel also acts as a line of defense against RFID signals, the Stars and Stripes quite literally protect your livelihood, or at least, anything you carry in your wallet. In theory, it can hold a maximum of 5 cards.

Patriotism aside, we know you’re all more interested in the multitool hidden within this bad boy. And boy, is it a good one. Calling it a multitool doesn’t even really do it justice. Given that there’s…takes a deep breath…A wingnut wrench, protractor, 2 knife edges, box and can opener, belt cutter, 2 flat screwdrivers, metric/inches ruler, SAE wrench and 6.3mm hex driver slot. That’s not all, because there’s a paracord storage space, a handy grip space and a bottle opener.

Like the Trayvax, we’ve featured the Ekster Senate tactical wallet on Men’s Gear before as part of our guide to minimalist wallets. We liked it then and we still like it now. Although it looks a bit odd with the cards popping out as they do, this is incredibly convenient when you’re looking to swipe that card you need. Especially important so you don’t look like an idiot in front of your hot date or a like you’re trying to skip paying your round of drinks with your buddies.

It’s been designed using top-grain Dutch and German leathers, so you can be sure it’s exceptionally robust and durable. There’s space for up to 8 cards and possibly even more, depending on how much hard currency you’re also packing. The main tactical element, besides the actual layout itself, to this wallet is the RFID-blocking tech, which has become more essential in the last few years. Besides all that, d’you know what? This is a handsome little thing.

The next tactical wallet from Dango Products is the Dango M1 Maverick. This is another little beauty of a wallet that doesn’t look like much but hides the body of a workhorse. It’s been made using 6061 aerospace-grade aluminum for the main chassis and has a DTEX water-resistant coating. In terms of its abilities as a wallet, it can comfortably hold around 12 cards and some hard cash too. It also has the RFID-signal blocking tech in its design that helps protect your money and identity.

Beyond that, it also has a few handy tools, that are always good to have at your disposal. You never know when you’re going to be cut short and need a sharp edge, chisel, nail prier, rope tensioner, strap cutter, hex wrench or bottle opener. If you always did know when you’d need those kinds of tools, there’s still no reason to avoid buying this awesome wallet toolkit.

Did you secretly get a little excited when you saw that the next item in our guide was the Spy Gear Tactical Wallet? We don’t blame you, because that’s exactly how we were when we looked at it to review it. But, hold your horses Lone Ranger, this is not actually a proper spy tactical wallet. Yes, we know! Outrageous! However, if you’ve got a small man who in your life wishes he was James Bond or someone similar, this will interest them.

Meant as a toy, it includes a motion-detector that works, an ink pen, voice recorder, mirror that helps you look around objects and underneath them and night vision goggles. Okay, so the night vision goggles are blue LED lights, but they do make it a little easier to see when dusk and night hits. The magnifying glass is perfect for hunting for those tell-tale signs of a saboteur, while you can even leave hidden messages and have them left for you that can only be read when you use the purple detection light. This is a lot of fun and a great way to stop little hands rooting through your own tactical wallet.

Next in our guide is this rather nifty tactical wallet from Bench Built. The military-grade wallet looks straightforward. That is, to the untrained eye. There’s space internally for between 5 and 7 cards and a money clip for your currency. That sounds all pretty normal. But, there’s more to it. As the cards sit securely, until you want one, you just tap the bottom and the pop up out the other end.

Our favorite element though is the magnetic band for the money clip. Basically, to hold cash securely in place, you remove the magnetized clip, place the money down. Then let the power of the magnet hold the money in place. If done correctly, it can even look like some kinda sleight of hand move.

Named after one of our favorite lizards here at Men’s Gear, the Chameleon tactical wallet is so called because it can be used and worn in several different ways. On the inside, there’s room for cards of any sort in 2 triple-step compartments, as well as a zippered compartment made from mesh for small tokens and items. If you have a driver’s license or other ID that you need quick access to, there’s the ID card pocket with viewing window. And then there’s a further pocket which can be accessed from the side.

For anything you don’t want to keep in view, there’s also a hidden compartment that can be accessed from the side and has a zipper closure. This camo-style military wallet has Velcro to close it and you can wear it in a few different ways, either around your neck using an adjustable loop of paracord or to your actual belt. Rugged and made for all situations, this is a great tactical wallet.

From Flipside Wallets comes the Flipside 4, which is an upgrade on previous wallets released by the company and is supposed to be more versatile and tougher than ever. To say this is a secure wallet is an understatement. When it locks itself, it’s tightly sealed and thanks to the use of the company’s patented RFID-blocking tech design, it protects against cloning, as well as cracking and crushing of all your cards. With space for 8 cards and around 10 bills, this is a very streamlined and tidy pocket solution that has a few tricks up its sleeve.

The biggest draw for us, besides the robustness and durability, is the ingenious way it functions. Once you’ve shut it and it locks itself securely automatically, to open it you need to press the special button. Once you’ve done that, it springs into action and opens itself up. It’s really a lot cooler than you might think.

Undeniably one of our favorite items to look at, the Level Gear Toolcard Pro is a beast that packs a bigger punch than it’s lightweight 1.4-ounce frame would suggest. Made from heat-treated 42—stainless-steel (you know, the good stuff), this is a robust and practical tactical wallet that leaves a lot of higher priced items crying and eating dust. Yeah, it’s one tough son of a, and it’s built for action, not to play games.

Boring stuff first, it’s got a money clip that can hold as many as 6 cards and a good amount of hard currency. Now for the fun stuff. IT’s got a whopping 40 tools. Yes, we did not miss type, there’s a total of 40 tools on this little baby. It would be dull to name them all, but to give you a taster, those 40 include a hex bit driver, cord cutter, prybar, screwdrivers, wrenches and of course, as always, a bottle and can opener. So, it really doesn’t matter how ‘minimal’ you want to go, the Radix has got your back. As you can probably guess from the images, the aim Obstructures had with designing and creating the Hardcoat wallet was to minimize the size of ordinary wallets as much as possible. Their goal was to provide the same kind of carrying solution that other passport and credit card holders offered, without all that uncomfortable and unattractive bulk. It features 3 plates of anodized-aluminum that can hold a number of your most essential cards, passport and a reasonable amount of paper money.

As these are very modular, you can switch and change between 3-plate and 2-plate design with no trouble, depending on what you need at the time. In addition to the RFID-blocking teched out space for holding your cards, there’s also spare O-rings that can be used to attach and carry extra EDC items with your mini wallet and you’ve guessed it, it’s got a bottle opener too. From Pelican, the Micro Sport wallet is a tactical wallet that doesn’t look like a wallet at all. Someone in our team thought it was just a glasses case when we had it up on the screen. That’s the beauty of this product though – it doesn’t shout and sing at the top of its lungs what it is. So, that makes it less nick-able. Although we think it’s cool that it is so inconspicuous, the real reason for its enclosed design is protection.

Protection from good ol’ Mother Nature, because as much as we love the ever-changing weather and the good it does for the green throughout the land and all that, it’s less good for your cards and money. Especially in those pivotal moments between leaving your humble abode and taking whatever form of transport you usually take on your daily commute or whenever you leave the threshold. The Pelican Micro Sport Wallet will, therefore, keep everything dry and easy to access. Keys, cards, ID card cash all fit inside it. As well as weatherproof, did we fail to mention that it’s crushproof too? So, never fear that clumsy member of your household smashing it accidentally!

With spacer for an almighty 20 cards, that won’t add bulk or make this feel too weighed down, this is a smart option. The multitool is really what sells it and although it’s very streamlined, it’s got several different sized wrenches, other interesting and useful pieces of kit, and yes, a bottle opener. Even if you’re just fed up of the embarrassment of having to sift through your bulky and badly organized current wallet, this is a super-cool option. Plenty of people will ask you where you got it and please tell them who gave you that friendly nudge in the right direction towards it.

Another fine entry in our guide to the finest tactical wallets out there from Calti is this awesome little guy. Made from the same material as the last – titanium, don’t rush to skip past this one. Titanium has been chosen by the company, like so many others, because of its toughness. It’s stronger than steel. But the real beauty is that all that strength does not equate to a heavier material. The main difference between this and the item above is the fact that this doesn’t have a multitool.

So, if you were bowled over by how sexy the other Calti looked but felt as if the multitool was a useless invention, you could opt for this beaut instead. It’s simple, lightweight, incredibly robust and just looks awesome in your hands. Go on, we know we’ve done enough to convince you. If we haven’t, send us an email and we’ll explain where you’ve went wrong with your reasoning. Who doesn’t want to have a wallet that’s essentially precision-cut and well-crafted metal with some elastic cord holding it together? If this is a world where that’s not cool, we don’t wanna be part of that world anymore.

This is a curious lanyard-connected card holder. Designed to hold just 3 ID cards, it is made from hard polycarbonate plastic that provides the support and protection you really need for your important ID badges and other cards you use daily. The cards are inserted from the top and then you can switch between them using a well-marked out thumb lever to bring the card to the top that you really need. We really like this function, because often with these minimalist wallets, it can be a hard-enough task trying to pry the cards you want from out of them. Problem solved.

That means, if you’ve got several different NFC-compatible badges that you need to flash and swipe, you can easily switch between them without having to remove them. It just makes life easier and more convenient, while at the same time protecting your cards. The cards are not just protected from the elements inside this wallet, but also would-be thieves who use RFID-signals to try and clone cards. The detachable keychain and metal badge clip plus the lanyard gives this card holder an extra layer of versatility, as you don’t need to keep things in your pocket anymore!

When something’s made by a company like Armor Supply Co. you know it’s something made for serious use and abuse. That’s exactly what you get with this multitool tactical wallet. Rather than just being one component, this is several different elements that you get for the same competitively-low price. So, what do you get? A wallet tat has space for at least 12 cards and a money clip that can hold up to 5 bills (folded) The pictures of this wallet speak for themselves about just how practical and space-saving it is.

Probably the biggest selling point, the above aside, is the extra items that you get just for buying the wallet. These include the money clip, a key holder (self-explanatory, we think) and an awesome little multitool card. Now you’re gagging to know what’s in the multitool, aren’t you? Well it’s got screwdrivers, hex keys, a metric ruler, bottle opener (well duh! don’t they all have one of those) and whole host of other cool things. It’s spellbinding just how many things they’ve managed to fit into such a small and compact design. It’s a good job we don’t have to explain how that’s done, we just point, smile and wax lyrical about how sexy it is!

Although we don’t really want to diss the name of the manufacturer, we do think New-Bring is a rather odd name for a company. There’s nothing odd about this hilariously functional and practical tactical wallet. Made from only the best aluminium, this has space to hold around 4 to 5 cards, provides the much-sought-after RFID-blocking tech to keep your identity, bank accounts and credit cards safe from cloning and unauthorised use and theft. But that’s not all this hot little wallet is capable of.

What else can it do? Well, to answer the problem of having both a bulky and awkward fat wallet and a set of keys in your pocket, you only need this product. It has space for around 4 to 6 keys, depending on their sizes of course. That way, you have all you need in a slimline and very portable little unit. And yes, it does have a bottle opener too.
