Smartphones have practically replaced a slew of gadgets. The modern consumer holds a versatile and capable piece of technology in their hands. Nonetheless, the market for standalone devices such as audiophile-grade music players remains lucrative. Hence, Sony presents the NW-WM1ZM3 as a flagship entry for 2026.
Although its gaming subsidiary currently stands on shaky ground due to questionable corporate decisions, the Japanese tech titan seems unfazed. With a name synonymous with audio playback anywhere, this model is part of the Walkman Signature Series, and the design and build quality are as premium as it gets.
“Meticulously refined from every possible angle in the service of peerless sound quality. The NW-WM1ZM3 incorporates the highest quality components, a precision-machined oxygen-free copper body, and a functional 5.5″ screen, all backed by decades of world-leading audio engineering. Nothing else compares,” as Sony points out.
This pocket-friendly multimedia unit measures approximately 3.17″ x 5.62″ x 0.83″ and weighs about 17.29 ounces. The metal body and frame are accompanied by a rear panel with a leather-like texture in black. For ergonomics, the flanks smoothly curve outward near the top. In addition to the 3.5 mm headphone jack, there is a 4.4 mm balanced interface.
The NW-WM1ZM3 ships with a single ROM configuration at 256 GB. The storage space should be more than enough for several albums of high-fidelity music. However, if your collection exceeds the allocated digital space, a microSD card expansion slot is likewise available. Lastly, the system runs on Android out of the box, and the battery lasts up to 33 hours on a single charge.
