Part of the Lo Scienziato collection, which was inspired by and dedicated to Galileo Galilei, the Panerai Luminor 1950 Tourbillon GMT Titanio is a superb 47mm luxury timepiece. Manufactured for the first time in titanium, the watch is larger than other models in the line, yet its weight is still perfectly optimized for uncompromised comfort.
The lightness of the piece is ensured by both the extensive use of an inherently lightweight material, as well as by the lack of a traditional dial. Beautifully exposed, the titanium movement shows its tourbillon, small seconds, 24-hour indicator and second time zone complications. The case weighs 40% less than steel, while the mechanism (caliber P.2005/T) is 35% lighter than the original skeletonized version.
At the 3 o’clock position there is a small dial which shows whether the second time zone hand indicates an AM or a PM time. The small seconds dial is placed at the 9 o’clock position, while the six-day power reserve indicator can be seen at the back of the watch, through a sapphire crystal porthole.
