Ever since the first-ever title came out, players have been fascinated by the franchise’s iconic device. The fictional technology behind the basic tool every Pokémon trainer has in their arsenal sounds fascinating. According to the lore, the inside is not a jail cell for the creatures, but apparently a place of comfort.
With this in mind, the guest room in question flaunts a design and decor that delivers a pleasant experience. In partnership with Nintendo, the structure resembles a partly open Poké Ball. Reports confirm that NOT A HOTEL’s in-house team of architects is behind the blueprint. Moreover, the site overlooks a lake in Tomakomai City.
There are plenty of distinct details such as the spherical outline of the structure, two-tone (red/white) color scheme, and other decorative embellishments. An acrylic window faces the water and allows natural light to filter in and illuminate the interior by day. The interior is as simple as it gets, with a round mattress and washroom as the only amenities.
Adjustable artificial lighting is likewise accessible for guests. The press release points out that this is a tie-in with the Pokémon Sleep app. Additionally, it’s part of the celebration to mark 30 years of Pokémon. In the meantime, stays in the Poké Ball guest room are exclusively prizes in a contest. It’s unclear if NOT A HOTEL will eventually accept regular bookings.
