The Nike Gyakusou collection for Spring 2019 is finally here. Three colorways make up this season’s new batch, all coming out February 28.

Nike and Jun Takahashi have been working ten years strong to bring us these off-kilter sneakers, so you’ll find some of the usual elements are still here.

As such, much like the previous iterations, the new lineup fuses high-performance wear with the urban landscape. The colorways feature predominantly earthy colors, and that’s care of Takahashi.

“I intentionally include earthy colors. It is important to bring together my aesthetics with Nike’s functionality,” said the Japanese fashion designer.

It’s all about fluid functionality for this new lineup. Nike and Takahashi continue to pair their expertise to produce new apparel advances. These include packable garments and pieces formed through body-map engineering and the sneakers themselves.

There’s a jacket, for instance, called the Transform JKT, that unzips from the front and stuffs the top part into a pocket. The Gyakusou version features a lightweight woven outer that protects runners from wind and rain. The soft Dri-Fit version, on the other hand, wicks sweat. There’s also the Lightweight JKT, which integrates skin temperature maps to ensure properly placed laser cut holes for maximum breathability.

The collection also includes new men’s tights and women’s shorts, which are made of a new material. Nike and Takahashi used scientifically-informed knit that not only reduces seams but also brings targeted compression to more vulnerable areas. All these, along with the sneakers, come out February 28.
