While the world labels MB&F (Maximilian Busser & Friends) a mere Swiss watch brand, it takes but a glance at their creations to see they are much more. Thus far their line of futuristic Horological Machines have taken inspiration from Science Fiction. With the release of Horological Machine N°8 ($82K) they have come back to the present with a high-octane Can-Am race car-inspired design.
The case is 49 x51.5 x 19 mm and comes in either 18k white gold and titanium or 18k 5N+ red gold and titanium. The horological engine is developed from a Girard-Perregaux base caliber using 247 components and 30 jewels.
The curvaceous yet angular case features duel optical prisms for vertical display of the hours and minutes, while the brand’s popular 22k gold battle-axe automatic winding rotor is prominently displayed on top. As the case with all MB&F masterpieces, the engine is fully exposed under its sapphire crystal cover to fully enjoy the movement. In true race car style, the HM8 even comes with roll bars.
