Do you have pets at home? Are they housebroken? If so, have you trained them to signal when they need to go outside? For our convenience, installing a pet door allows our furry pals to come and go as they please. However, it can also accidentally let other critters inside. To prevent this, the FacePaw offers security for both owners and the animals in their care.

Much like other smart-enabled systems, artificial intelligence plays a huge role here. The cutting-edge capabilities of modern technology really have their fair share of benefits. The FacePaw is another cool crowdfunding project with a modest target of only $5,000. So far, the Kickstarter page already shows that 60 backers have pooled $11,268 USD, with 19 days to go.

It is available in two sizes. The smaller SKU measures 10.31″ x 11.3″ x 5.28″ and is ideal for smaller dog breeds or cats with a maximum weight of 25 lbs. The larger model, meanwhile, measures 15.24″ x 22.8″ x 8.82″ — enough for bigger pooches as heavy as 100 lbs. Depending on your current setup, adaptability is the name of the game here.

The frame can clip onto existing pet doors as an upgrade. On the other hand, you can hook it up as a standalone unit. It’s lightweight yet durable enough to withstand the elements and the regular traffic of pets entering and leaving the house. An outward-facing camera not only recognizes your pooches and felines, but objects as well.

For instance, dogs will attempt to bring sticks, toys, and other items from outside, while cats might carry prey. FacePaw automatically locks the flap to stop them in their tracks. The same goes for other creatures that do not match the database. Users can pair it with their smartphone for real-time video, two-way communication, and more.
