Ever since the likes of Palworld and other similar creature-catching games came out, GAME FREAK’s recent outings have been called out. Gaming industry pundits point out the series’ supposed lack of innovative gameplay and questionable quality. Nevertheless, you can’t deny the franchise’s formidable appeal as the Pokémon Beats Pill makes its debut.
If Nintendo and its partners don’t shape up soon, upstarts such as Pocketpair can pull the rug out from under a long-running series. From a licensing standpoint, however, it seems the group understands the cult-like following the IP enjoys. Thus, this limited-edition venture features two recognizable critters to promote the portable Bluetooth speaker.
As of this writing, the Pokémon Beats Pill should be available for purchase online or through other official distribution channels. The main attractions here are Pikachu and Mimikyu, both of which adorn the speaker grille. The former and its housing are tonal gray with the “b” emblem in black. Next are the applied lightning accents in silver.
Other exclusive details include a removable, matching gray lanyard with a Poké Ball charm and a set of Beats x Pokémon stickers. In the meantime, collectors might want to keep the box, as it shows Pikachu and Mimikyu on each side. Even cooler are the semi-interactive cutouts that let you raise or lower one of their ears.
Beyond the unique graphics and decorative elements, the technical specifications match the regular Beats Pill. Expect IP67-rated dust/water resistance, Bluetooth connectivity, a robust 24-hour battery, support for Dual Speaker modes, and others. The Pokémon Beats Pill measures 8.6″ x 2.8″ x 2.8″ and weighs about 24 ounces.
