What usually comes to mind when you talk about Triumph Motorcycles? Many are probably thinking about the timeless Bonneville. Of course, the British marque’s fleet offers plenty of options. While most of these carry a classy retro silhouette, there are exceptions. The Rocket 3 GT Storm, for instance, looks like a bruiser but with a bit of class in tow.
To match its muscular stature, at the heart of every machine is a 2,458 cc, liquid-cooled, 12-valve, DOHC, inline 3-cylinder engine. It is then hooked up to a six-speed gearbox. Next, you have a stainless steel 3-into-1 header system with a 3-exit silencer. The official technical specifications show a total output of 179.5 horsepower and 166 lb-ft of torque.
Holding everything together is a full aluminum frame. Triumph also adds a single-sided aluminum swingarm and a fully adjustable Showa piggyback reservoir RSU suspension unit to the Rocket 3 GT Storm. Alongside the 47 mm Showa USD forks, the moto rides on cast aluminum wheels.
Both are wrapped in 150/80 R17 tires at the front and 240/50 R16 for the rear. The touring-ready cruiser is available in three standard paint jobs. Pick from Base Marine/Sapphire Black, Mineral Grey/Diablo Red, and Sapphire Black/Satin Pacific Blue. According to Triumph, the bike boasts “heart-stopping performance” and “muscle with manners.”
An ergonomic and plush saddle can seat up to two riders. Maintaining a sleek profile are the internally wired cables, black anodized risers, and swept-back GT-exclusive handlebars. There’s plenty more that help it stand out from the standard variant.
Not only are you getting a potent steed, but the ABS, traction control, cruise control, and adjustable throttle mapping also indicate a safety-first approach. Remember, the Rocket 3 GT Storm touts the “world’s largest production motorcycle engine.”
