The grandaddy of all G-Shocks has just received a sleek, all-metal treatment and some smart new skills. Available (starting April 2018) in silver or ion-plated gold, the Casio G-Shock ‘Full-Metal’ 5000 Series looks like is gonna be another wild success from the Japanese maker.

As expected, the new timepieces feature a seriously tough build, with an all stainless steel exterior, while a new resin material placed between the bezel cover and the movement, increases shock-resistance. Water resistant to 200m, the 5000-Series will sport 49.3 x 43.2 x 13.0 mm cases and will weigh around 167 grams with the bracelet attached.

In terms of features, you get the usual G-Shock treats including a world time, 1/100th-second chronograph, perpetual calendar, daily alarms, automatic LED backlight, and more. The new watch versions raise the bar even higher, though. They’re equipped with Tough Solar charging that gives a massive 22 month-autonomy, plus Multi-Band 6 automatic reference time synchronization, and Bluetooth 4.1 for connectivity with your smartphone.
