Dell has just unveiled an updated version of their highly praised “smallest 13-inch laptop on the planet” which we reviewed three years ago. The 2018 Dell XPS 13 Laptop is not only the most powerful machine in its class, it’s also one of the slimmest, lightest and best looking.
Aesthetically, the new XPS 13 laptop boasts an aluminum chassis in silver or rose gold, with a carbon fiber palm rest or a white woven glass fiber palm rest, respectively. Just like its predecessor, this sleek ultrabook manages to fit a 13-inch InfinityEdge display into an 11-inch frame, while its thickness has been further reduced to a mere 11.6 mm at the back and 7.8 mm at the front edge. The weight has also been brought down to just 2.7 lb (1.21 kg).
The screen comes in Full HD or UHD resolution with Intel UDH Graphics 620. The list of impressive specs includes 8th generation Intel Core i5/i7 options, up to 1 TB of fast-boot SSD storage, up to 16 GB of RAM, GORE Thermal Insulation, and a 52 WHr battery that offers 20 hours of use per charge. The new XPS 13 also features a backlit chiclet keyboard with 1.3 mm of travel, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, one USB-C port and a microSD card reader, plus a 720p webcam that, this time, is placed in the middle.
