For a comfortable but thoroughly different look for the summer, Reebok has just released a new sock-shoe. The Reebok Sock Runner Ultraknit ($250) gets its inspiration from the Balenciaga Speed Trainer designed by Demna Gvasalia but has a more exaggerated, knee-high profile.
Featuring an upper constructed entirely of Reebok’s flexible Ultraknit material, the shoe rocks an all-black look with just a minimalist white foam sole that has been given a carbon fiber midsole for added cushioning and stability. Reebok has gone subtle on this one, as the only branding comes in the form of the logo on the white pull tabs.
The original release was only to select markets in Europe and Asia with online retailers joining in after the first week of July. However you feel about the unusual look of the Sock Runner, it’s safe to say they will make a statement wherever you go in them.
