British automaker Range Rover has just unleashed yet another elegant model to their line of mid-sized SUV’s. The Velar is a more gentrified ‘Rangie’ than most and its sleek looks emphasize this fact. It’s not that this machine isn’t off-road capable; it has a 10″ ground clearance, 25″ folding depth, and a compliment of Range Rover’s all-terrain and hill decent controls.

The Range Rover Velar ($49,900+) comes with three engine options. There is the 247 hp turbocharged inline 4-cylinder 2 liter gas Ingenium engine, the supercharged 380 hp 3 liter V-6, or a 180 hp 2 liter Ingenium diesel. All the Velars are equipped with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission with all-wheel drive and an electronically limited 155 mph top speed.

Outside, the Velar has a floating roof with panoramic sliding glass, and flush fitting windows and door handles to keep the lines clean. The interior offers not only the usual leather upholstery but can also be fitted with a sustainable-resourced woven material from textile manufactured Kvadrat. The First Edition models of the Velar are going to be limited to about 500 vehicles with exclusive extras beyond the normal level of Range Rover excellence.
