Drawing inspiration from their 1988 Acapulco Penny Loafer, Adidas has brought this classic silhouette back for a new reimagining as a slip-on skate shoe. The Adidas Acapulco Slip-On ($80) maintains a sleek casual look while hiding away some features that help make it a good skate shoe as well.
The uppers are made of premium full-grain leather with subtle ventilation holes. An external embossed midfoot strap adds stability and security for holding the shoe firmly on your foot, while a vulcanized rubber outsole provides traction on or off the board. There is also a molded sockliner thrown into the mix to give flexible cushioning.
The Adidas Acapulco Slip-on joins a growing line of footwear styles that have been redesigned for skateboarding that can be worn in any situation. Now the classic loafer look has been reconditioned to give board-riding performance without looking like an athletic shoe. Releasing date: March 1 2017.
