Malcolm Davis Architecture out of San Francisco, California have recently completed work on what they call a contextual indoor/outdoor living space for the Baird family. Twenty minutes away from the closest paved road, Camp Baird sits on 165 acres of west coast forest in a valley near Healdsburg, California.
The 100% off-the-grid dwelling is set up like a permanent campsite with two main structures, one an equipment barn/garage and the primary living space. There is an 82 foot heated swimming pool out back. Other amenities include the concrete fireplace and grill and the partially screened outdoor shower. From the screened dining area to the tree-shaded parking space, Camp Baird provides a wonderful blend of outdoorsy charm with structural materials designed to minimize fire threats. The architects say they “stood back and let nature be the star.”
