San Francisco-based watchmaker Minus-8 is all about creating precise industrial machines. Its Layer Leather Watch ($500) is a clear embodiment of this model, boasting a nice futuristic aesthetic with sleek architectural cues.
As the name implies, the timepiece features a layer construction. The case is made of durable 316L stainless steel and contains four individually PVD-coated stacked rings, creating a unique carved-like face. A highly-accurate automatic Seiko movement (with a 40+ hour reserve) powers the stylish watch, while sapphire crystal windows on both sides ensure scratch-resistance & clarity, and a rear view of the mechanism within. Water resistant down to 100 m, the Layer arrives in four different colorways, complete with a solid vegetable-tanned leather strap with soft suede back, and a traditional stainless steel buckle.
