The all-new new seven-seat Volvo XC90 T8($72.000) is a plug-in electric car, hybrid car and high-performance car rolled into one. Predicted to outgun rivals such as the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Land Rover Discovery and Mercedes M-Class, the latest Volvo SUV combines luxury with a spacious interior, engine efficiency and ground-breaking safety technology.
Capable of reaching 100km/h in 5.9 seconds, the Volvo XC90 T8 houses 2 engines connected to an 8-speed gearbox, with a combined power of 400hp. A supercharged and turbocharged four-cylinder Drive-E petrol engine(318 hp) powers the front wheels, while an electric motor delivers 82 hp to the rear wheels. This hybrid system can run only on electricity for zero-emissions or combined with the ICE for increased power, offering 5 different driving modes: Pure electric, Power mode, All-Wheel Drive, Save mode and Hybrid. This complex combination of systems allow the T8 to emit just 59 g/km of CO2, with fuel economy of 2.5 L/100km.
The XC90 features nice touches that include: metal surrounds to the windows, front spoiler and grille, silver roof rails, matt silver wing mirrors, 20-inch alloy wheels, sports seats (clad in leather and suede), illuminated door sills, an iPad-style touch-screen on the dashboard and a gearshift handmade of Swedish crystal. Stated to be the safest model it has ever made, Volvo has equipped this powerhouse with automatic braking systems able to detect forthcoming accidents, ultrasonic sensors for self-parking, and Queue Assist Technology- which automatically follows the car in front in slow-moving traffic.
