Canepa is synonymous with world class automotive restoration and preservation. Historic race car owners have trusted the Canepa team with restoring and running some of the most famous cars in the world while collectors appreciate the uncompromising standards they use to renew classic automobiles.

This 1979 BMW M1 Procar ($Inquire) is an example of their art. The car itself was one of only 40 racing variations of the BMW M1 E26. It was originally used as a spare race car for the Procar BMW M1 Championship Series but was not used in the actual races in 1979 or 1980.

Powered by the twin-cam M88/1 3.5 L six-cylinder petrol engine with Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, it has now been refitted as a production car. The craftsmen at Canepa used their expertise to refit as many Procar parts into the car as they possibly could while meeting the requirement of assuring it is still street legal. [via]
