Once again, Autodromo watches have gone to the racing world for inspiration for the new Prototipo Chronograph – Brian Redman Edition ($775). Redman was a popular race car driver whose graceful driving skills helped him became a Formula 5000 Champion three years running, from 1974 through 1976.

Powered by a reliable Seiko-made VK63 Chronograph Hybrid Meca-Quartz movement, the new Prototipo has a dial that hearkens back to the color scheme of Redman’s Porsche Salzburg 908/02. On the white face, the red outer circle and black secondary function dials (that mimic the look of dashboard meters) are topped by the bright green sweep second hand. The case is coated in black DLC and matched with a black “Big Hole” racing strap. Limited to just 50 units, each accompanied by a 42-page booklet hand-signed by Brian himself.
