After 129 years, you’d think Victorinox would have added a pocket clip to its Swiss Army Knife by now. Thankfully, Tortoise Gear designed just that with the Lamprey91. Tortoise Gear is an official accessory manufacturer and supplier for the company. But this auxiliary addition is patent-pending and isn’t an official accessory.
Nevertheless, this pocket clip is compatible with all current and all hidden-rivet 91mm Victorinox Swiss Army Knife models. But it’s not compatible with vintage exposed-rivet models. It’s made from ultra-strong, heat-treated aerospace-grade stainless steel and, as Tortoise Gear says, “ultra-precision engineered to the micron level for a perfectly integrated fit and function.”
Its patent-pending wedge-clip technology eliminates the need for extra hardware or DIY adjustments. Lamprey91 doesn’t need bolts, screws, adhesives, scale removal, or drilling. It offers seamless integration, with a shape that contours to the knife’s hidden geometry, wedging and clipping securely in place for a factory-like fit and damage-free adjustment.
It installs in seconds: wedge the tip under the scale and slide it in. Then hook the tip around the middle rivet under the scale, rotate the middle rivet toward the top of the knife, and push hard on the top to snap it in place over the top hidden rivet. Once clipped in place, it doesn’t come off from pulling or tugging alone. You have to rotate it to remove it.
Lamprey91 is fatigue- and crack-resistant and super-strong: it can lift over 11.34kg without damaging the knife or the clip itself. It has a precision-machined, tapered-thickness section at the sharp-end bend that maintains a strong, uniform retention-pinching force without weakening the spot where the clip’s thin shim part emerges from under the scale. It even integrates a bit driver and lanyard hole.
