Toronto architecture studio PARTISANS brings interactive play to home spaces with the Jenga Light. It reimagines the Jenga blocks as a sophisticated lamp that brings fun and joy, much like its namesake. But instead of wooden blocks, it uses translucent 3D-printed blocks that light up when stacked on a powered base.
The blocks feature a visible wavy pattern that enhances the lamp’s aesthetic appeal. The patterns cast a unique glow when electricity flows through them from the base. Whereas the game-focused structure challenges players to stack the blocks carefully to prevent them from toppling, the lamp embraces this gameplay with ease.
Jenga Light doesn’t need proper placement to light the blocks. Instead, each block has metal contacts at the top that ensure consistent power flow and illumination. It uses bridge rectifiers —small, four-diode circuits that align the flow of electricity. They ensure that each block lights up regardless of its orientation.
Hence, eliminating the need for proper placement. This technology provides an innovative lighting solution that adds interactive play to any space. It also encourages creativity in how to stack the blocks to make the lamp look dynamic. The more blocks stacked, regardless of positioning, the brighter the glow.
While other lamp designs use telescopic frames or movable shades to angle the beam, this design brings out creative ideas. You can create different shapes, like a ladder, to angle the beam to its target. Jenga Light makes a great conversation starter in any room. It delivers a dynamic lighting experience that embraces both art and technology with elegance and sophistication.
