The quality of mobile games these days is remarkable. Although the quality and performance may not match the versions for consoles or PCs, most come close. While most are fine with on-screen touch controls, others prefer the tactile feel of a gamepad. Razer adds a new model to its mobile gaming controller lineup, and its most compact one yet — the Prio.
If ergonomics is an important selling point, we recommend the Kishi V3 or Kishi V3 Pro instead. However, if portability is what truly matters, then the brand’s latest SKU is exactly what you need. However, there are some caveats to consider, but they are not exactly what we would consider deal-breaking. It only connects via USB-C and does not have grips.
These are minor gripes if you really think about it, because the pocket-friendly size and sleek form factor more than make up for it. The Prio measures 101 mm x 67 mm and only weighs 101 grams (roughly 3.56 ounces). Razer goes for a clamshell mechanism and a telescopic frame, which is then coupled with a rotating module to minimize the physical footprint when not in use.
Depending on the genre of game, the layout is familiar and intuitive enough so users can quickly get into the action. To the left is your standard four-way D-pad and a capacitive thumbstick. Meanwhile, the right houses the face buttons (XBOX arrangement) and another capacitive thumbstick. Elsewhere, shoulder triggers and bumpers occupy the upper corners.
Razer says the Prio is compatible with iOS and Android operating systems. Furthermore, it can securely hold devices up to 7″ without issues. Even with select cases on, the accessory can flex slightly to accommodate the bulk. Get the tactile advantage over the competition and enjoy a responsive experience when you play.
