What do you get when you attach bright LED lights to a drone? A hovering light that floods the ground below with a wide beam. That’s the concept behind the HEONE-X, an automatic tethered camping light that can easily replace the usual headlamps or lanterns. Having it flying overhead has a couple of advantages.
It pulls mosquitoes and other flying insects away from the campsite, rather than keeping them on the ground near your tent or your face, as they often do with lanterns or flashlights. Likewise, the light illuminates a wide area below instead of concentrating on a particular spot. According to the company, it illuminates 1,000 square meters of ground space when raised to up to 10 meters high. It provides 360-degree seamless, wide, soft yet powerful lighting.
What makes HEONE-X different from drones equipped with LED lights is its runtime. It illuminates for hours, not just for a few minutes, due to its power-connected design. It’s tethered to a 480Wh power station on the ground, which doubles as a backup battery with built-in USB ports. It can hover above ground for up to 24 hours straight and remain stable even in windy conditions thanks to its integrated high-precision gyroscope and powerful propulsion system. It features a maximum wind resistance rating of Level 1.
You can operate the drone from the power station, a handheld joystick, or via a companion app. Thanks to its tethered design, you can hand-carry the power station anywhere, and the light moves along with you while hovering above. A single tap on the station lifts the cable attached to the device up. Meanwhile, an automatic reeling system pulls the cable back in for storage.
