FlowSence, designed by Hyeokin Kwon, turns the coffee brewing process into an intimate ritual of understanding and learning. This machine guides you through the process, unlike traditional pour-over coffee machines that rely on automation and skill. It also lets you customize the coffee flavor with every use.

It’s an assistive brewing tool that supports you through the entire coffee extraction process. It provides visual cues as it measures weight, temperature, and flow in real- time. It then translates these sensory elements into data and visual feedback displayed on a 4″ round OLED display.

Through its assistive method, FlowSence encourages ongoing learning and improvement by allowing you to observe, understand, and adjust the brew each time. You can learn from experience so you can refine or adjust the taste on your next brew.

The process begins with an interactive interface featuring a rotary dial that allows you to input basic details. These include the origin of the coffee bean, roast level, grind size, water temperature, and dosage.

Turn the dial to adjust and press to confirm your selection. Once you’ve set your brewing parameters, an AI-generated recipe appears to suggest a method appropriate to your chosen parameters. Then the extraction begins and the screen provides real-time feedback.

Flowsence displays numeric readouts for weight in grams and elapsed time in seconds. It also features a tare function for resetting the scale between additions, as well as touch inputs to allow users to switch modes according to different brew methods. A minimalist housing that resists spills for easy maintenance completes the machine’s sleek design.
