Williams Grand Prix Engineering has become a racing legend since their beginnings in 1977. To mark their 40th Anniversary F1 team, manager extraordinaire Frank Williams required a token as performance-driven as his team. The Williams 40th Anniversary Oris Chronograph ($3,700) succeeded in that desire with a truly vintage style piece of performance horology equal to the Formula 1’s.
The small 40mm case is a genuine throwback to the 1970’s as is the layout of the dial. While new to Oris Watches, the Williams 40th Anniversary is a two-register chronograph with a vertical 12 and 6 design very popular forty years ago. As well as an internal tachymeter bezel, the dial features a multi-part seconds track. Inside, Oris has provided their own cal. 673 automatic movement with a 48-hour power reserve.
The retromodern timepiece comes with three band options, a black rubber rally strap, beads-of-rice metal bands, or the fan-favorite small-holed weathered brown leather strap. Each of the 1,000 40th Anniversary watches is individually numbered on the back.
