Mr Porter has the distinction of being one of a select few authorized online retail outlets for such luxury brand watches as Bell & Ross, Junghans, IWC, Bremont, Zenith, and since 2015 for Ressence watches as well. They have just partnered to create a limited edition of the Type 1 watch, designated the Ressence Type 1 MRP ($21K-$34K).
This new iteration maintains the unique dial configuration that Ressence is noted for. Rather than the hands rotating around a fixed dial, the hands stay still and the separate time indices are on rotating satellite disks. There is no bezel but the outer ring rotates once per hour to show the minutes. The hour dial makes two revolutions per day and the seconds are in a smaller dial beside it. The Type 1 also has a rotating dial that indicates the days of the week with weekends in red.
Powered by an extensively modified ETA 2824/2 movement and set & wound not by a stem but by a rotating the caseback, this unique timepiece arrives in two versions: one made of grade 5 titanium with a ‘night blue’ dial, and the other done in rose gold with a sandblasted white dial.
