When making their luxurious Maybachs, Mercedes doesn’t always go with the logical pick. Hence their new limited edition release is not an S-Series or E-Class as expected, but rather the sturdy & long-running G-Class. While the G’s have pretty much remained the same since their introduction in 1979, the new Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet ($TBA) adopts some bold changes.
This new Maybach G650, in true landau style, has the rear seats fitted with a soft convertible top. The seats are like mini thrones with their full massage program and swiveling calf rests. Leather-dressed folding tables provide work space and two 10″ displays increase both work & pleasure.
The engine powering the Maybach G650 is a twin-turbo AMG V12 capable of producing 630 hp and 738 ft-lbs of torque. With over 17″ of ground clearance and an off-road transfer case that works with the locking differentials, the Landaulet should handle tough conditions like a breeze. Mercedes is planning on creating only 99 of these special G650 Landaulet luxury tanks, so you’d better be quick if you want one. [via]
