If you just need to get away from the crowded city and enjoy some peace and quiet, the Rock Reach House ($365/night) seems like the right medicine. Available for short-term rental, this cottage is located not far from California’s Joshua Tree National Park, offering a high desert escape and all the comforts you can imagine.
The house was built in 2009 using an ingenious light-gauge steel system, and it sits on a 2.5 acre parcel of land surrounded by majestic boulders, ancient junipers, desert oaks and resilient pines. Each room features large sliding glass doors that lead out to decks and patios for an indoor/outdoor living experience. There’s also a cowboy soak tub (best enjoyed after long hikes), along with a secluded four-person Jacuzzi, a private outdoor shower, an outdoor fireplace and sleeping deck, picnic table, and a large steel deck with propane grill. And if you just can’t stay away from technology, don’t fret, the Rock Reach House has Wi-fi and it’s equipped with top-of-the-line appliances. But you probably won’t care about them, as you’ll be mesmerized by the spectacular nature. via
