The wait is finally over folks. A working iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak has been released for all 64bit iOS devices by the Chinese team Pangu.
iOS users who wanted to jailbreak their devices had to wait for a very long time to get a working jailbreak on iOS 9.2 – iOS 9.3.3. The last working jailbreak was released for iOS 9.1, but by then most had already upgraded to iOS 9.2.1 or 9.3 and later.
The Chinese jailbreak team Pangu released a new iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak out of nowhere. It was rumored that a jailbreak is in the works, and it seems to have been true. If you own a 64-bit iOS device running iOS 9.2 – iOS 9.3.3, then you can now jailbreak.
The jailbreak tool is now available for download, but only those have a Windows machine. Mac support isn’t available yet, but should be soon released. Also, the tool is currently in Chinese, but the team has promised an English version to be released soon.
If you’ve been following our iOS 9.3 Jailbreak Update article, then you probably know that a jailbreak was shown off plenty of times. Recently, the Pangu team demonstrated that the iOS 10 beta can also be jailbroken.
However, the latest available public iOS version is 9.3.3, so if you upgraded to that, then you can jailbreak.
iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak by Pangu
Let’s talk a little more about the new jailbreak tool released by Pangu. This is a legit tool and it works, jailbreaking your device. However, it is not an untethered solution, which means that you will have to re-jailbreak every time you reboot your device. Don’t worry, it’s not as difficult as it sounds.
The iOS 9.3.3 jailbreak is a semi-tethered one. Once you’ve jailbroken your device on iOS 9.2 – iOS 9.3.3, a Pangu app will be available on your Home screen. Now, if you reboot or switch off your device, the jailbreak state will disappear, but the app will remain. You will then have to tap on the app icon to re-jailbreak your device. Simple as that.
It’s better than having to connect your device to the computer to re-jailbreak. Pangu hasn’t given any details about a fully untethered jailbreak, but we expect there to be one in the near future.
iOS 9.3.3 Jailbreak Compatibility
As we’ve mentioned above, the new jailbreak is only compatible with 64-bit iOS devices. These devices includes the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone SE, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Mini 2, iPad mini 3, iPad mini 4, iPad Pro and the iPod Touch 6th gen.
Unfortunately, for those with an iPhone 5 and the older iPod Touch and iPad devices, the jailbreak will not work.
The jailbreak will also work on older versions of iOS starting from iOS 9.2. Therefore, if you’re on an older firmware than the latest iOS 9.3.3, and don’t want to upgrade, then you can still jailbreak.
However, it is better to update to the latest iOS 9.3.3 version and then jailbreak. Why? Well, once iOS 10 is released to the public in September, then you won’t be able to update to iOS 9.3.3.
If you’re ready to jailbreak your iOS device running iOS 9.2 – iOS 9.3.3, then you can download the Pangu Jailbreak tool below.
