Amsterdam’s Ironwood Custom Motorcycles are used to getting orders to rework/refit BMW bikes and despite doing dozens of builds, they still manage to twist new looks into their work. This 1985 BMW R80 Boxer called ‘The Mutant’ is a fine example of their craft.
To give a more threatening profile to the bike, the front forks were shortened and the tank was pitched forward to increase the front leaning angles. The sharp, narrow seat lifts up from a shortened subframe to display its fancy Alcantara and leather mix. As well as a custom exhaust featuring a Honda under-seat Akrapovič muffler, the electronics have been rewired to give the Mutant a cleaner look. Motogadget parts have been strewn about for best effect, from the turn signals to the speedo sunk into the fork brace.
With a simple paint scheme of black frame and wheels complimented by a vintage Porsche 356 hue, the lack of graphics helps emphasize the aggressive look of this unique café racer.
