Back in the 1960’s vinyl was king and the British Dansette record player was almost a household standard. Now with the reemergence of vinyl’s popularity with music collectors and fans, Crosley has reinvented the Dansette and added a USB port for playing newer music through your iPhone.
The Crosley Dansette Turntable ($207) has a two-speed belt-driven turntable for both 33 1/3 and 45 rpm records. It has a carry handle for portability or can be set on its accompanying stand, while its two built-in speakers give it a full sound range even if it doesn’t manage really high fidelity.
In keeping with the old-fashioned charm, the sound arm with its diamond stylus needle is worked manually so you have to sent it on the record & take it back off yourself. Another retro aspect to the Dansette is that its case is made of plastic just like you would expect a 60’s portable to be.
