Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is soon to be released, and it’s developers have just revealed a new teaser video showing off one game mode that will be included in the multiplayer. ‘Plunder Mode’ was a popular mode in previous Uncharted games and is returning for the new release.

The Uncharted series is well-known for it’s story driven action-adventure style, but it also has a multiplayer mode that has proved to be fairly popular with players as well. Those who have spent some time outside of the main narrative and played a bit of multiplayer will already be aware of ‘Plunder Mode’, but for those who aren’t, the developer Naughty Dog were kind enough to release a short teaser video to give you a better idea of what to expect:

Anyone who has played Uncharted 2 or Uncharted 3 will be aware of what Plunder Mode includes, and it is essentially a Capture the Flag style game mode. Instead of capturing a flag, teams will be seeking out and returning a statue/idol to their treasure chest. Uncharted 4’s lead designer Robert Cogburn had the following to say about how they had changed the dynamic of the game mode to suit how the game would be played:

“Plunder is a Capture the Flag type game mode but with an Uncharted twist—you can throw the idol (AKA flag). Great teamwork is key to winning the match as you’re tasked with finding the idol on the map and bringing it to your home treasure chest.

“For those familiar with the classic Plunder game type, we’ve made a few updates. In previous Uncharted games, people carrying the idol could not traverse with it; we removed this constraint. Also, Plunder has been a five-on-five experience in the past; we changed that to four vs. four.”

With a couple of weeks until it’s release, fans of the Uncharted franchise anxiously wait to see if the game will deliver a adequate conclusion to some of the best games of the last generation.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End is set for release on May 10th 2016, exclusively for Playstation 4.
