We can even start calling Samsung leaks Samsung official releases. With the rate we get leaks, we can safely assume that the Korean company is leaking info on its own. And one reason might be to hype the upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S8. We’ve reported a while ago that Samsung is preparing a new voice assistant, Bixby, for the S8. Now, thanks to some new Samsung leaks, it is all but confirmed.
What do we know?
Samsung confirmed Bixby on its own support pages, citing that the Galaxy S8 will have its own voice and personal assistant. The assistant will be called Bixby, and the Korean company confirms that the assistant will be able to control all aspects of the touch interface. And that is one advantage Samsung might have over Siri, Cortana, Google Now, and similar voice assistants. For example, Siri can text and make calls. Siri can also play music. In order to match Siri, and get over it, Bixby will need to do more.

Viv helps Samsung
Samsung has one thing that no other company has, a broad audience. Google is responsible for all Android phones, but more and more companies are making their own tweaks. For example, Samsung has its TouchWiz, while HTC has Sense UI. Stock Android experience is something almost no phone offers nowadays. At least not from companies like LG, Samsung, HTC, and other big players on the Android market. And Samsung has another ace in its sleeve. That is Viv, an AI company that Samsung bought last year. One of the founders of that company developed Siri. Now, Samsung wants to utilize their experience and skills. Now, while Samsung is late to the AI party, the Korean company is well equipped to make up the ground.

However, Samsung might take things to the next level by integrating Bixby in tablets, televisions, and other smart devices. We will probably have to wait for more “Samsung leaks” to find out where Bixby will be utilized. Unlike Google and Amazon, Bixby has a wide palette of products that can serve.
