The Angry Birds Movie is a huge success, so news of a sequel shouldn’t come as a surprise. Rovio Entertainment Ltd., the Finnish company behind the immensely popular “Angry Birds” mobile game, said on Wednesday that it plans a sequel to its most successful animation movie.

Rovio struggled to repeat the success with the sequels to the first Angry Birds game, which became the top mobile game app in 2011.

Rovio posted declining revenue for three years in a row and the company’s workforce reduced to 470 from 800 in 2014.

According to Rovio, that’s changing and the company’s games division enjoyed a 24% growth in revenue during the first half of 2016. The company said new game titles are also in development.

Now the developer is trying the same with the 3D computer-animated action-adventure comedy movie based on its biggest franchise of the same name.

Reports VIA Box Office Mojo reveal that the first Angry Birds movie directed by Clay Kaytis and Fergal Reilly (directorial debuts), made $346,917,138 worldwide with an estimated production budget of only $73 million.

While the film’s earnings prompt Rovio into making a sequel; the Angry Birds movie had mixed reviews from critics.
