Google has dug its heels in when it comes to their mobile wearable classes. While response to Google Glass has been poor, the company appears invested in the technology. They’ve re-branded the product Google Aura – not to be confused with their mobile development program Ara – and hope the name addresses some of the stigma wearing the device seems to carry.
Business insider also reports that Google has significantly boosted headcount within Aura. Some of the new hires come from Amazon’s Lab 126. More people suggests that Google may be broadening their wearable development beyond glasses.
Google stopped sale of their $1,499 US product earlier this year after weak demand.
