If you have already managed to backup your WhatsApp chat history, photos, and videos via Google Drive, you can always disconnect it for any given reason, such as running out of storage or if you are having syncing issues to another Google account which you do not want your data to be stored.

First, make sure you are connected to Google Drive, and then locate and click on the Cog icon, and then select settings.
You will the need to head over to Manage Apps sections and search for WhatsApp Messenger.
