World War I isn’t over yet. DICE and EA have been basking in the success of the latest entry of their “Battlefield” series, but that doesn’t mean they’re about to let their guard down. To prove to their fanbase that they’ll be steadily supporting their latest game, they’ll be debuting the trailer which showcases an upcoming map later today. You can catch the trailer exclusively on Twitch at 1 PM PT / 4 PM ET.
Battlefield 1 New Maps Trailer Info
Battlefield is known or its creative maps. The maps usually allow for up to 64 players and are extremely destructible. Battlefield 1 took things a step further and employed a level of detail never before seen in a game of this style. The game is out for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, but it’s needless to say that it’s best experienced on a PC or a PS4 Pro. The PS4 Pro update adds 4K resolution (not Native 4K, but what can you do?) and the PC version is substantially better, offering resolutions up to 8K. The game is built on DICE’s Frostbite 3 Engine, an engine which has powered Battlefield games in the past, as well as the latest Star Wars: Battlefront reboot, which was developed by the studio. EA has also released “Titanfall 2”, a first-person shooter that released alongside Battlefield 1, also to critical acclaim.
The new details for Battlefield 1’s latest map have been revealed. Firstly, the latest map will be titled “The Giant’s Shadow”, which is a rather fantastic title and is even more curious than one could have expected (I mean, I doubt we’ll be seeing actual Giants in a Battlefield game, but stranger things have happened…) Better yet, the map will be available to all players at no cost, which is a rather smart move for the developers as it separates them from the usual fair of sucking money out of consumer’s shy pockets. The setting of this map will be World War 1 France. Another new addition is the Grenade Crossbow, which is as amazing as it sounds.
Don’t forget to catch the Twitch Livestream of the brand new trailer later today. Another thing we have to look forward to is the first paid expansion, but that is three months away!
