Amazon just announced the date for its second ever annual Amazon “Prime Day,” the one-day only global shopping event – offering 100,000 special deals worldwide to Amazon’s paid Prime members.
This super special sale meant specifically for Amazon Prime members, will begin at midnight on July 12 (PST).
Almost all product categories will be on sale and members are promised new deals as often as every 5 minutes throughout the day.
Eligibility for Prime Day offers is for all Prime members (existing and new) in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Austria, Belgium and Japan.
Amazon ‘Prime Day’ Success
Prime is Amazon’s premium membership program that costs $99/year or $10.99/month. Paid members get two-day shipping free and enjoy numerous special Amazon services, such as streaming music and video.
Amazon Prime Day was first launched in 2015 and resulted in a whopping 34.4 million items being sold, making it Amazon’s biggest sales in a single day ever. It even outshone the record-breaking sales Amazon experienced on Black Friday the previous year.
Excited sellers saw their sales nearly quadruple on Prime Day, and one seller even claimed to have sold as much as $16,000 worth of products every single hour.
Amazon Prime Day Sale 2016
Amazon wants to make its second Prime Day sale even bigger than last year, by doubling the number of products available.
According to Greg Greeley, Amazon’s VP, “Following last year’s record sales, we have dramatically increased the inventory behind many deals.”
“Even with this massive selection we know many of the Prime Day offers will sell out, so members should download the Amazon shopping app to receive notifications on their favorite deals.”
As part of its promotions for Prime Day on July 12, Amazon will start running a variety of countdown deals from July 5 through July 11.
Amazon special promotions will also be available for its Prime Music and Photo services.
Another Record Breaking Prime Day?
While records may be broken where product sales are concerned, Amazon’s intention behind this special day seems to be to increase its Prime member base. About 60% of the total value of goods sold on Amazon is from Prime members, who are known to spend more money than its non-Prime members.
Whatever Amazon’s intentions, sales and records may be; this can be an excellent opportunity for shoppers to get products at huge discounts, and that’s what matters to us.
Don’t forget the date for Amazon Prime Day deals: It’s July 12, 2016.
