Jürgen Eberle works as an E-Class engineer for Mercedes-Benz by day but doesn’t leave his passion at the office. On his time off he likes to experiment; a prime example being this E-Class rebuild he did for a hobby.

Jürgen started out with a standard E-Class All-Terrain but let his fantasies run wild. He felt that real off-road experiences need maximum clearance so he inserted solid portal axles. Ultimately the original 6″ was lifted to a boggling 16″ between belly and dirt. Such added clearance also inspired larger tires so the emerging Mercedes E-Class All Terrain 4×4² ($NA) was given sweeping carbon fiber fender flares to accommodate 20″ tires all around.

Another tangent away from the original was the switching from a standard diesel engine to a gasoline powered 328 hp, 3.5-liter turbo V6. It will be interesting to see if some of Jürgen’s one-off styling ever end up in some future production model.
