Converse’s iconic Chuck Taylor sneakers are hands-down the most well-known and well-loved athletic shoe in the world. Having a history that leads back into the early 20th Century, the iconic sneaker is often copied but never duplicated. Now for 2017, Converse has created a new line called the Chuck Modern collection. The first release of this new line is the Chuck Modern Lux ($TBA) and it is designed less for the ball court and more for the other facets of life.

The Lux features a supple leather upper for style that could fit in the boardroom. The tongue and laces are also leather, while the soles are one-piece Phylon for lightweight comfort. The high-top kicks also incorporate such innovations as microsuede lining and taped seams.

While so many classic details like contrast stitching, rubber toe box, and colorful logo are gone, the Lux still sports an embossed Converse All-Stars logo on the ankle. In keeping with the simplicity of the new Modern Lux they come in only two colorways – solid black or solid white.
